The academic year of my youngest son inspired me to an unforgettable trip to South Korea, so I boarded the plane in early May 2018 which took me with a stop over in Frankfort straight to Seoul in 11 hours 30 minutes. In expectation to find only grey cities and steaming chimneys in the land of the industrial giants Huynday, Samsung and Co, the peninsula surprised me with a splendid natural spectacle. Almost ⅔ of South Korea is forested and the peninsula is one of only a few countries in the world that has managed to combine economy and ecology with immense reforestation programs. It is really impressive!
